Trump Says MAGA Will Never Like Fox News
Fox News is now the enemy. Not CNN. Not the Times.
Executive branch responsibilities
Fox News is now the enemy. Not CNN. Not the Times. The network that built its brand on conservative voices is being told by President Trump that “MAGA and REAL Patriots will never like Fox.” He said it on Truth Social. He said it because the network keeps putting Democrats on air.
The post came Wednesday afternoon. Trump asked why Fox News always puts Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and Jessica Tarlov on its network to say bad things about Republicans and him. “Why does FoxNews put Democrats saying bad things about Republicans?” he wrote. The complaint is simple. Democrats get time. Republicans get a quick retort. The narrative stays negative.
This is not new behavior from Trump. He has attacked media outlets for years. But Fox News was different. It was the channel he watched. It was the channel that gave him friendly coverage. The relationship has frayed before. It is fraying again. And this time the break is public.
Trump said Democrats get more airtime than pro-Republicans. He said the network repeats a completely negative narrative, on and on it goes, and then we get a quick retort. He added that it is truly amazing that he won all three elections. That claim is false. He lost in 2020. He has said this before. It does not become true because he says it again.
The names he listed tell you what he is angry about. Schumer is the Senate Democratic leader. Jeffries is the House Democratic leader. Tarlov is a Democratic strategist who appears on The Five. She is the lone liberal voice on that show. She is often critical of Trump. She has been a target before. Trump has singled her out in past posts. This is another round.
Fox News has not responded publicly to the latest post. The network has aired Trump rallies. It has given his administration coverage. It has also aired Democratic voices. That is what news channels do. They show both sides. Or they try to. Trump does not want both sides. He wants one side. His side.
This matters for more than cable ratings. Fox News is part of the conservative media ecosystem. It shapes what Republican voters hear. When Trump tells his base to reject Fox, he is telling them to reject a channel many of them watch every day. He is creating a split. The split could hurt Fox. It could also hurt Trump if Fox pushes back.
I have seen this pattern before. A leader turns on a friendly outlet. The outlet tries to stay neutral. The leader calls it betrayal. The audience picks a side. The ratings move. The money moves. Then the story moves on. Until it does not.
Trump has warned that viewers will very quickly stop watching if Fox keeps this up. That is a threat. It is also a test. Fox has built its business on conservative viewers. If those viewers leave, the ad revenue falls. The stock falls. The executives answer to shareholders. They will not sit still.
But Fox is not the only channel. There are others. There are podcasts. There are Truth Social posts. Trump does not need Fox to reach his base. He has his own platform. He has used it before. He will use it again. The question is whether his base follows him away from Fox. Or whether they stay with the channel they know.
The timing of this post is worth noting. It came as Trump is campaigning ahead of the 2026 midterms. He has held rallies in Ohio, Alabama, Texas, and Oklahoma. He says the crowds were packed. He says Fox did not show them. He says other networks covered them more. This is another complaint. It is part of the same frustration. The message is the same. The media is not treating him fairly. The media is against him. Fox is now on that list.
Markets do not care about fairness. They care about stability. They care about predictability. A president at war with a major news network is not stable. It is not predictable. It is noise. Noise makes traders nervous. Nervous traders sell first and ask questions later. That is how it works.
I do not trade on headlines. I watch them. I watch what they say about power. Trump is asserting power. He is telling his base what to watch. He is telling them what to believe. He is drawing a line. The line runs through Fox News. It runs through the conservative media world. It runs through the Republican Party.
The Republican Party has not responded. Schumer and Jeffries have not responded. Tarlov has not responded. They may not need to. The post says what it says. The base will react. The ratings will show the reaction. The ad buyers will see the numbers. The stock price will reflect the numbers. That is the chain.
This is not a crisis. It is a fight. Fights happen. Fights end. Or they do not. The market will price it in. The market always prices things in. Then it moves on. Until the next fight.
Fox News trades under Fox Corporation. The stock has moved on media fights before. It will move on this one too. The direction depends on viewers. The viewers depend on Trump. Trump depends on his base. His base depends on what they believe. They believe what they watch. Now Trump is telling them what not to watch.
The post ends with a familiar line. The fight goes on. It always does. The question is who is fighting whom. And who is watching.
